This event which is the first of its kind, was organized by the Petroleum & Hydrocarbon Ministry in the capital city of Libreville and brought together major stakeholders in the Oil & Gas industry.
As Platinum sponsor of this important event, Shell Gabon’s presence was visible through a “State of the Art” exhibition stand and a series of presentations on the development of deep offshore, management of mature fields, human capital management and Shell’s contribution to protecting biodiversity & the environment .
Following the official opening ceremony of the Forum which was presided by Professor Daniel Ona Ondo, Prime Minister of Gabon, Godson Njoku, CEO Shell Gabon moderated the first discussion panel themed: ''Gabon, Land of Opportunity''.
A major highlight of the event was an announcement by Etienne Ngoubou, Minister of Hydrocarbon and Petroleum, of the discovery of a deepwater Gas field by Shell Gabon at 145km from the coastal area of Gamba on the licence Léopard 1.
The visit of the Prime Minister and some ministers of his cabinet to the Shell Gabon exhibition stand, was another major highlight of the event. The multidisciplinary team of young talented Gabonese handling the stand presented a global view of Shell Gabon’s activities and engaged the numerous visitors to the stand on new technologies, solid partnerships, respect for biodiversity and career opportunities in Shell Gabon.
The forum provided a platform for the CEO and other executive members of Shell Gabon to engage in industry discussions and interact on a wide range of topics with other key players and partners in the industry. Participants included representatives of the Ministry of Petroleum and Hydrocarbons, Gabon Oil Company, ExxonMobil, Deloitte, APIEX, Halliburton, Petronas, Spectrum and Agence National des Parcs Nationaux.
